White Grape, Lingonberry Jam, Buttery

Papua New Guinea tends toward heavy-bodied brews, but rarely do you find one that pairs the heft with buoyant fruit notes and specialty nuance. This one does just that. It's a hybrid coffee, destined to please—whether you tend toward thick cups or fruit-forward brews.

Hailing from the Lahamenegu Wet Mill, this lot draws from twenty farms in the small town of Goroka. It's dry processed, which is atypical for Papua New Guinea, and the iconoclasm yields dividends. The cup opens with a loud, sugary hit of white grape. The fruit yields to a helping of molasses, immense and rich—this is where the cup wears its traditional Papua New Guinea stripes. The body stays thick and velvety, but in a boomerang turn, cooling usher forth more fruit: a sweet dollop of lingonberry jam.

There's something for everyone in this bag. It's a great representation of Papua New Guinea and a surefire hit in almost any brew method.
