Marshmallow Fluff, Milk Chocolate, Candy Apple, Cinnamon

You know those coffees that taste naturally sweet? Almost like they've been dosed with sugar? This is one of them. A perfect daily driver from producer Armando Gomez, it's composed of Bourbon, Typica, Pache, and Catuai. The lot was grown on Armando's farm, Chq'ul, which sits in the crags of Guatemala's sweetest coffee-growing area, Huehuetenango. The cup brews round tones, matched with a blue-ribbon malic note. In other words, it's pretty much impossible not to love.

The moment water touches the grinds, they atomize the room with chocolate, cola, and a bit of honey-roasted nuts. In true Huehuetenango fashion, those sweet tones land beautifully on the palate. Marshmallow fluff is the dominant note, a jet-puffed opener that sets the table for its equally sweet supporting players. Milk chocolate adds a silky quality to the mouthfeel. A wonderful candy apple note heaps not just sweetness, but a zippy tone that balances the sugars. Finally, a dash of cinnamon makes an appearance, part aromatic, part flavor note.

Consider this one the ultimate daily drinker, and a wonderful representation of Guatemala's telltale sweet tones.
