Panama's Elida Estate stands among the most celebrated in the world. Their crops regularly dominate the Best of Panama competition, and in 2019, their Natural Geisha set new price records, selling for upward of one thousand dollars per pound. This coffee ranks as one of their best-known offerings (it's also priced mercifully lower than their wallet-busting Geisha offerings). 

Typically coffee descriptions start with flavor notes, but this Catuai deserves a prologue about vibe. It brews a soulful cup, sweet and deep right alongside bracing and tart. The fruit sits pitched on a seesaw between sugary and bright. It's the type of balancing act that you catch in a pack of Sweet Tarts. There's champagne at the core stitched alongside a hint of nutmeg and white chocolate. The finish packs a flash of grape, and the whole thing lands in a well-rounded space. If you haven't tried an Elida coffee, this is a great place to start.
