This is a pure washed Sidra from one of Ecuador's premier producers, Juan Peña. It presents a delicious mashup of florals, citrus, and creamy mid-notes. Chamomile and lemongrass carry from dry fragrance to cup. They're delicate and refined, and they speak to the best aspects of Sidras.
A mélange of citrus and herbs comes to the party in the form of lemongrass and mandarin. It matches wonderfully with the chamomile, heaping complexity onto an already calculus-level cup. But the best note is the base tone: almond butter. Oh, the almond butter! It’s equal parts sweet and viscous, a creamy grace note that has no business in a washed brew, but shows up anyway. It’s everything you want in a Sidra, and probably a bit more too.
