Guava, Chocolate, Cereal Milk
This is a women's community coffee from the Mt. Elgon region. Mt. Elgon sits flush against the Kenyan border, and fittingly the lot includes some classically Kenyan SL-14 mixed with Nyasaland, a cultivar that originated in Ethiopia but has become an Ugandan staple.
The washed processing on this one provides a wonderful frame for some delicious tones. Guava brings a touch of tropical fruit. A bit of chocolate lingers in the background. But the best part of this coffee is the way it pairs sweet grains with a telltale creaminess. The combination lands in a space that recalls cereal milk. If you're a sucker for that kind of mashup, it's well worth your time.
